Street Cred

Pumpkin carving has to be the quintessential kick off to the holiday season for us. There is something about smelling the guts and seeds from those helpless little vegetables and creating something magical with them that gets me all juiced with seasonal delight! Yesterday was Grandma Tomsick's annual pumpkin carving bash and JJ was there with bells on! She had created little goody bags for the children present and someone put a sticker from one of them on JJ's bare arm. It really gave him some street cred.

As you can, JJ has not skipped a meal... well...since birth, and while that may be a testament to my mad mothering skillz, walking around in Utah with no shirt on in October is sadly not. I also do not think that JJ willo appreciate the doll photo in a few years. I think it was staged if you ask me!

Anyway, BIG thanks to good family friend, Dara, for being our personal photographer for the day. When I found my camera to not be working AGAIN! I asked her to snap a couple of pictures for me, she took my request to the next, next level. We got so many great pictures, I have asked her to be our family photographer and just be the silent memory maker present at all important moments. I am still waiting for her reply. Due to my MIA mess of a camera, I have no pictures of our jack-o-lanterns all aglow, but I will assure you that, once again, I walked away with the best pumpkin of them all. Okay, will it is top 10 for sure.
JJ must be a chip off the ole block because he loved the pumpkin excitement.. he went so far as to sample the specimens.

Of course you got "best pumpkin" you always do!
Looks like you guys had FUN! But probably not as much fun as I did this weekend because I got to spend some time with the Sci-Fi convention that was staying at Robert's hotel. Or "Ho- Tail" as Robert would put it.

You guys are so cute! What a fun family activity! (About the blog backgrounds- a friend taught me how to download cute scrapbook paper, like from photobucket, and edit the html of my blog. It took a while to get the hang of it!)

So we are doing our pumpkin carving tonight. I never thought about using rubber gloves, though! Good idea. We all usually start out with spoons and then give up and start scooping out the guts by hand.
